North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO): The NATO is an international military alliance of 30 member (countries). The full name of NATO is North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO was established at the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty on 4 April 1949. The NATO headquarters is located in Brussels, Belgium, while the headquarters of allied command operations is near Mons, Belgium. 

At present, there are 30 member states in NATO. But at the time of the establishment of NATO, it had only 12 member states. The founding members of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) are - Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and United States. 

The NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is a system of collective security: its independent member states agree to defend each other against attacks by third parties.
